Bootblacks unveiled new single and video, "Leipzig" feat. Oskar Carls (Viagra Boys), out of the new album, "Paradise"!

With their new single "Leipzig", Brooklyn’s Bootblacks lean fully into the shadows of their post-punk and cold wave roots, blending icy synths, wavering guitars, and a nostalgic 80s pulse with something strikingly personal. The track, which precedes their upcoming album "Paradise" (out June 13th) via Artoffact Records, marks a bold evolution in both sound and feeling for the band.

Lead singer Panther Almqvist delivers the vocals in Swedish for the first time, bringing an added layer of affection to the track. “The song is named after the city in Germany where I made some of the best friends of my life,” Almqvist shared. That emotional echo comes through in the lyrics, which drift between longing and reflection, wrapped in an atmosphere that's both melancholy and danceable.

The addition of Oskar Carls (Viagra Boys) on saxophone brings a dense boost, developing moments of chaos and beauty together with the track’s disciplined cold wave architecture. His sax lines, at once wild and soulful, depict the spontaneous spirit that Leipzig the city is known for, artistic, enigmatic, and restless.

The video, co-directed by Rose Callahan and Kellfire Bray, is as striking as the song itself. Featuring a black metal aesthetic and a mysterious protagonist wearing a clown costume, it plays with contrasts, ritualistic imagery meets synthesized melancholy, much like the track’s fusion of raw emotion and synthetic sparkle.
