Haujobb and five facts about the influential electronic music duo!

The things you should know about electronic music masters, Haujobb!

Haujobb is the German electronic musical project whose output has ranged drastically within the electronic music spectrum, from electro-industrial to ambient and techno. They have become a staple crossover act, bringing several forms of electro into the mainstream industrial music world.

1. Haujobb took their name by "Blade Runner" movie. The name comes from the German translation of "skinjob" from the film. "It's supposed to be "Hautjobb", from the movie "Bladerunner". In the movie it's "Skinjob", but when we watched the movie in German I couldn't hear the "T" sound, so I just heard "Haujobb" and it made kind of sense. In German "Haujobb" means something like... beating up someone. In the movie it’s a term for showing no respect to the androids... they call them "Skinjobs", like calling "nigger" a black guy. It sounded to me something negative for something that doesn't exist yet, and it was cool!"

2. In 1997 Haujobb released a sample CD, a matrix, with loops, kicks and many more. Techno music community and producers have used these loops very often in their work. Daniel Myer says: "A lot of techno producers use our sample CD. We put out a sample CD, a matrix, I think it was in 1998. or something like that, and a lot of techno producers use our samples, our kick drums, our loops and stuff like that."

3. Haujobb did a crowd-funding project, back in 2014, to help cover some of their costs for "The Alliance Of Sound", U.S Tour, with Skinny Puppy, VNV Nation and Youth Code, and achieved the goal in less than 24 hours. This is a small representation of how much the American people love their live music. Myer has commented on this: “We are very grateful! It´s very surprising for us how this turned out, people wanted to help, they shared this all over the internet and everything. We never considered doing crowdfunding at all. It might be the last time as well.” This is such a humble remark from such groundbreaking duo.

4. Haujobb is one of the bands with the most diverse sound between each of their release. Back in the early years and after their really succesful and critically acclaimed "Solutions For A Small Planet" they released their fourth full length album "ninetynine" introducing so many new elements in their sound, mixing Ambient, Trip-Hop, Jungle. This was the reason that many of their devoted fans accused the "of selling out and going soft" and, as Daniel Myer says, "we lost the fanbase at that point. Fan websites closed because of the album, they hated us".

5. During 1996 and prior to "Solutions For A Small Planet" release, the band was one of the two bands that took part and premiered The Remix War series, released by 21st Circuitry EBM/Industrial label founded in 1991 that later acuired by Metropolis Records. "The Remix Wars Part 1 - :wumpscut: vs. Haujobb" released on February 19th 1996, and each band remixed several tracks from each other's repertoire.

Haujobb will perform live in Death Disco, Athens, Greece, on Friday March 22nd, with the Greek electro, dark project The Man & His Failures!
