For those who navigated the 90s underground scene, the name Silke Bischoff carries a huge weight. Between internal conflict, legal battles, and the heartbreaking passing of co-founder Felix Flaucher in 2017, the German dark wave and synthpop pioneers' essential catalog has remained locked away in limbo for far too long.

Fortunately, that era of silence is coming to an end. The band is stepping back into the light with a diligently remastered version of their massive club hit, "Under Your Skin", serving as the advance single for their upcoming retrospective album, "Tears - A Collection of Silke Bischoff Songs". Due to minor production hiccups, the release date has shifted slightly to September 25, 2026 (and October 2 in the US), arriving via Dependent Records and SPKR.

This compilation is an invaluable release for followers who thought these foundational milestones would never see an official reissue. Renowned producer Olaf Wollschläger, who has previously worked with acts like Mesh, Yello, and Beborn Beton, took on the delicate task of restoring the classic tracks. Adding to the historical significance of the release, the compilation features a special surprise straight from the vaults. A previously unreleased title track named "Tears", featuring the authentic, unmistakable vocals of the late Felix Flaucher, released on July 15th, 2026.

Taken from their acclaimed 1995 album "To Protect and to Serve", "Under Your Skin" was a defining club anthem that naturally bridged the gap between alternative goth spaces and broader dance floors. Looking back at that time, founding member Axel Kretschmann recently shared how naturally the material came together during those sessions. "Under Your Skin" famously runs for a full eight minutes, a length Kretschmann deliberately preserved, maintaining that a composition should always last exactly as much time as it has to, rather than being edited to fit some radio formats.

Fans can stream and download the remastered single on Bandcamp. For physical collectors, the release takes the form of a 48-page hardcover CD artbook, packed with exclusive photography by Felix Flaucher and liner notes by German author Mark Urban. Pre-orders are live now at the SPKR Store.

Following Axel Kretschmann's triumphant live revival of Silke Bischoff at the 2025 Wave-Gotik-Treffen, which featured guest appearances by scene figures like Alexander Veljanov (Deine Lakaien) and Sven Friedrich (Solar Fake), the legacy of one of Germany's finest dark wave acts is finally being restored to the public.
